Hi. I'm a bit new to the whole midi thing. I've managed to program a few things but one thing is eluding me.
I want to simply scroll up and down through the presets on my HX stomp using the morning star. As I understand it, it should be
Action - Press
Type - PC scroll up
As for "Select slot", "increment", Channel (should be 1 I think?), "lower limit" and "upper limit", I'm not sure what to do - can anyone help?
Did you get this to work? If not maybe I can help.
I need help with the same thing can't seem to figure it out.
I‘m making the assumption that you are sending the commands on channel 1 which is the default for the Stomp. My other assumption is that you are only using the PC Scroll Up and PC Scroll Down commands to control the Stomp and have the command‘s Slot parameter set to 1 (i.e. the default).
A regular PC command sends a PC number on a channel. For example sending PC=0 on channel 1 will select preset 0 on the Stomp, PC=1 will select preset 1 and so on.
PC Scroll Up and PC Scroll Down are utility versions of regular PC commands. The utility function is that you can set a range for the Stomp presets you want to scroll through. So for example if you set the parameters Lower Limit=0 and Upper Limit=127, you have set the range as 0-127 and you will be able to scroll through all of the Stomp’s presets - either incrementing or decrementing depending which utility command you are using.
But as you can see, you can set any range between 0 and 127. So if you are using PC Scroll Up and have set a range of 10 to 12 and you press the footswitch to increment through the presets you will see the presets on the Stomp go 10, 11, 12, 10, ... In other words the range provides a circular buffer which you can progress through.
Where you may find this useful is for example where you want to create set lists. For example a Set-1 list that ranges from 21-29, a Set-2 list that ranges from 30-38 and so on.
If this is unclear please let me know. Hope this helps.
@DeSelby great explanation. I tried this with my Strymons (Big Sky and Timeline), but unfortunately it doesn’t work. Any idea why? Or are is it different with the Strymons? Sorry for jumping in, just really puzzled as what to do with this! Would love to have a preset scroll function for my Strymon Pedals.
@joshdocksteader Just to make sure that things are working, watch the following video starting around the 3 minute mark and try doing the same thing. Don’t worry about on-device editing because you can use the editor but the principle will be the same.

Once you get it working post a reply here and if you have issues maybe we can sort them. I don’t have any Strymon devices but the procedure seems pretty straightforward.
Awesome man it worked! Thanks.
