I believe at present that if you want to tap in a tempo you have to use (Tap) in in the menu which means one has to hit the footswitch to access the menu, the use (Tap) to tap in the tempo and then use the footswitch to Exit the menu.
It would be useful to have an option to be able to tap in the tempo without having to go through the menu. Maybe something like if bpm=0 then the tempo can be tapped in. If this is already possible please let me know. I have gone through the manual but not found anything.
[edit] I realize that the Exit in the menu signals that the tempo setting is complete. Maybe something like an elapsed time of ~2 seconds with no activity on the switch or pressing another switch could serve the same purpose.
Which device are you using your MC6 with? I use mine with an AxeFX II and instead of using the tap tempo message for the switch, I just use a standard CC MSG and set it to 14:0. The switch is always live, so just tap it at any point to set a new tempo.
The issue arises if you want the MC6 to be the master clock and in particular have two or more devices you want to slave to it. As it stands I can use a CC to the device to set the tempo. But I have a page allocated on the MC6 that has 5 footswitches allocated to some default tempos. For example FS1 is set to 120 bpm (Release) with 130 bpm as an alternate (Long Press Release). And it would be nice to be able to set the MC6 Tap Tempo without having to use the menu.
Have you seen the Tap Midi-Clock without menu is now available in the last firmware update ?
One of the first things I tried but thanks for the tip :) Works great.
@James Thank you providing this feature. It really helps.
