Editor Mode

Hello, just purchased an MC6. I understand that I need to place the MC6 in editor mode, then connect it to my mac then boot the MorningStar Preset manager. How do I place the MC6 into edit mode?

Thanks, I placed the MC6 in Editor mode and connected it via usb cable. The desktop app editor looks like this when connected to the MC6. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Also I have tried to use the web editor by going to http://editor.morningstar.io/ , I am also using google chrome but it says "The browser you are using is not compatible. Please use Google Chrome to run the Web Editor." Is there something I can do to fix this?

Is your Google Chrome up-to-date? What OS are you running?

For the desktop editor, that's fine. Just toggle into editor mode in your MC6 and press a switch to load the settings into the editor.

Ok so I have

1. Switched to a PC

2. Made sure Chrome has the latest update

3. Connected MC6

4. Went to editor.morningstar.io

5. Switched MC6 to editor mode

It looks as if the web site “see’s’” the MC6 but when I press a preset the editor does not respond.

What next?

The editor definitely sees the MC6. When you click on the "Toggle editor mode" button on the editor, does the MC6 respond? Also, have you tried using the Desktop editor to see if it has the same issue?

Thanks for the quick response!

When I click on the “Toggle editor mode” tab the MC6 does not respond. This is the case for both the web editor and the desktop editor.

Can you go to www.midimonitor.com.. Try sending some messages from the MC6.. Does anything appear? Also, click on the devices tab. Do you see the MC6 is the list of devices? Are there any other devices listed?

That works. Looks like the web site detects the MC6 and when I click on a switch I see the bunch of commands.

Also I am noticing that it says Channel 14 when I press all of the presets. Is that correct?

ah ok, so your MC6 is set to channel 14. Just change the channel on the editor to channel 14 as well and try again.

That worked! Awesome. Also how Do I change the channel on the MC6.

Just boot into the main config menu (Hold D+F before powering up) and then set the channel from there.

  • I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I set preset D as follows: action: press type: pc scroll up slot: 1 lower limit: 0 upper limit: 10 midi channel: 1 increment: yes Looking at the midi monitor, every time I press the D switch, it sends PC 0. It seems like increment isn't working. What am I missing here?
  • Hi, Im using an MC6 linked to an Elektron Analog Heat Mk2 Running 3.4.1 and 3.4.2beta do the same Using an EV 30 dual expression pedal. I've set the bank so that the expression pedal controls 2 CC messages. #12 for Drive and #74 for filter frequencey What I'm trying to do is set footswitch A to toggle the message to control Filter on/off, and footswitch D to do the same for drive However, after saving it and trying out the pedal. The first message will be triggered after pressing Preset A (filter) , but Pressing press B (wont control drive) Also, after saving preset A with msg1. when I press the button for preset B, save it with msg 2, then press the button for preset A again, msg 2 is written for preset 1. Sometime the Toggle Prosition is also changed from Expression 1 to 2. Help...I've followed the blog post and im doing everything correct so why is this happening.
