This is something that many have requested for us to do. In this video, we take a look at how the Morningstar MC6 midi controller can be used with the Line 6 HX Stomp to make it even more amazing. First off, we are pleased to announce that they are incredibly easy to use together, and the MC6 gives HX Stomp users much greater power and flexibility. The HX Stomp has 3 foot switches, 1 of which is usually dedicated to Tap/Tuner, leaving users with only 2 switches to control 2 blocks when the HX Stomp actually allows you to chain up to 6 blocks of effects and simulators. This does not make full use of the HX Stomp's potential. With the MC6, you will able to engage/bypass all of the 6 blocks with a dedicated switch for each, and this can be done very easily.
The HX Stomp has MIDI learn mode. When you select a block and put the HX Stomp in learn mode, it will assign whatever incoming CC message it receives, to engage/bypass the selected block whenever it receives that particular CC message again. Values 64-127 engage a block, while values 0-63 bypass it. Use the browser-based Morningstar MC6 Editor for quick and easy programming of your MC6.
In this example, we programmed switches A, B, C, D, E and F on the MC6 to send MIDI numbers 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively. We set each switch to toggle mode on the MC6, to alternate between sending values 127 (toggle position 1) and 0 (toggle position 2) with each press. This way, we can toggle between engaging and bypassing each HX block with the same switch. We then named our switches to match the HX block names, with 'ON' or 'OFF' in capital letters at the end for each of the toggle names. Add 'OFF' to the name in toggle position 1 and 'ON' to the name in toggle position 2. This will allow you to see the current state of each block and know whether it is engaged or bypassed.
